Trusted Service Provider

Digital Signature is a form of electronic signature based on digital certificates, designed to provide higher security and legal validity for the document signing process. It ensures:

Identity Trustworthiness: Verifies the true identity of the signatory;

Content Integrity: Prevents the alteration of documents after signing;

Legal Recognition: In some jurisdictions, digital signatures are considered legally equivalent to handwritten signatures.

Therefore, in scenarios involving important or legally binding documents such as contracts, financial documents, and government papers, digital signatures are often a necessary choice.

Generation Method of Digital Signatures

The generation of digital signatures relies on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), with core components including:

Certificate Authority (CA): Responsible for issuing digital certificates according to compliant and regulated processes to verify the identity of the signatory.

Trust Service Provider (TSP): Typically operated by qualified institutions, responsible for issuing and managing digital certificates for users. The certificates store the signatory’s identity information, enabling them to generate legally valid digital signatures in electronic documents. Once used, digital certificates provide guarantees of authenticity, non-repudiation, and tamper-resistance for signing actions.

Storage Methods for Digital Certificates

Different TSPs may adopt different certificate storage modes:

  • Cloud Storage: Digital certificates are hosted on secure cloud platforms, allowing users to access them remotely at any time;
  • Local Hardware Storage: Digital certificates are written onto physical media, such as smart cards or USB keys;

In some countries or regions, local regulations may specify that certificates must be stored in a particular manner to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
