DIIA is an electronic signature service integrated into the official DIIA mobile application of Ukraine, allowing Ukrainian citizens or residents to quickly sign various documents via their mobile phones. Users can use the electronic signature to complete contracts, official communications, and other purposes by simply activating the feature in the DIIA app.
This service is provided by the Ukrainian government, covering citizens and residents within Ukraine. Diia.Signature has also recently been promoted to the EU and other regions through the eID Easy platform, enabling users to use this electronic signature for cross-border document signing between the EU and Ukraine.
To use Diia.Signature for signing, you typically need:
To have the Diia mobile application and activate the Diia.Signature feature within it.
To perform identity verification, which includes photo verification and entering a five-digit code to confirm the signature request.
Diia.Signature complies with relevant laws and regulations regarding electronic signatures:
In Ukraine, it is considered equivalent to a handwritten signature and has legal effect.
For EU member states, Diia.Signature is considered an advanced electronic signature (AdES), and therefore has legal binding under EU regulations (although it does not have certain prerequisites of the “Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)” within the EU).
Since January 1, 2023, the EU’s Qualified Electronic Signature (EU QES) has been recognized in Ukrainian law, with the same effect as Ukrainian signatures.
