Lithuanian Mobile-ID (also known as Mobilus Parašas) is a SIM card-based mobile electronic signature and electronic identity service. Users can use the activated Mobile-ID to sign electronic documents on their mobile phones, generating a qualified electronic signature (QES) without the need for traditional smart cards or card readers.
Lithuanian Mobile-ID is jointly provided and maintained by mobile operators and qualified trust service providers (QTSP) within Lithuania. It is managed and regulated through the national trust service platform.
General requirements for using Lithuanian Mobile-ID for electronic signatures are as follows:
SIM Card Support: Users must have a SIM card that supports Mobile-ID service and have activated the service.
Mobile Device Capability: The mobile phone should be able to receive and process signature requests required for interaction with the SIM card (usually through SMS or SIM application interaction).
Lithuanian Mobile-ID fully complies with the eIDAS Regulation (EU Regulation 910/2014) and is recognized as a notified electronic identification scheme, enjoying mutual recognition status within the EU. The electronic signatures it generates are Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES), thus having enforceable legal effect in all EU member states.
