SwissID

1. Service Overview

SwissID is a Swiss digital identity and trust service provided by SwissSign. Through SwissID, users can use electronic signatures (including Qualified Electronic Signatures QES) to sign contracts and conduct legally enforceable transactions. SwissID also provides an integrated digital identity service for login, identity verification, and signing.

SwissID / SwissSign operates within Switzerland and is a recognized trust service provider (TSP) by the Swiss government.

4. Dependency Requirements

When using SwissID / SwissSign’s electronic signature service, the following conditions are usually required:

  • Authentication Device / Application: Users need to use a terminal device that can be securely authenticated (e.g., modern smartphones support fingerprint / facial recognition / secure elements, etc.) to trigger the signature operation.

  • Two-Factor Authentication: When signing QES, two-factor authentication (e.g., push notification + biometric confirmation on the SwissID App) must be passed to approve the signature operation.

5. Compliance Statement

  • SwissID / SwissSign complies with the Swiss Federal Electronic Signature Act (ZertES), making QES have the same legal effect as handwritten signatures within Switzerland.
