The Law on Electronic Documents and Electronic Digital Signatures defines an electronic digital signature as “the acquisition of signature creation data and the cryptographic data modification of a given electronic document, presented in a unique symbol sequence in electronic form, which is attached to the electronic document or logically associated with it, and used to identify the signatory, as well as to protect the electronic document from forgery and tampering.”

The Law on Electronic Documents and Electronic Digital Signatures defines the person who signs an electronic document (i.e., the signatory) as “a natural person who is the recipient of an electronic digital signature certificate (or the person they represent).”
